St. Croix Boat Cruise and Lunch Buffet

Plan for a fun, and relaxing boat cruise down the St. Croix river in Stillwater, MN.

Au Pair meeting - September 19th, 2010

Join several other metro area au pair groups for a nice lunch and social time and enjoy the fall colors along the river.  The boat leaves the dock at 1:30 so plan to arrive to Stillwater by 1 in order to park and get tickets.  Stillwater is also a lovely town to shop and explore so come early or stay after the boat returns for some shopping.  The boat will return at 4 p.m.  The cost is $19.95 and includes the boat cruise, jazz music, and a buffet of chicken and roast beef with all the fixings.  Beverages are extra.

Welcome to Minnesota Rebecca!

Rebecca arrived in Minnesota as an au pair on August 13th from Germany!  We are happy to have her join our group.  She will be caring for three kids in Maple Grove.  Rebecca enjoys volleyball, jogging, swimming, soccer, going to the movies, and has played some guitar!  Please welcome her.

2010 - 2nd Annual Como Zoo Scavenger Hunt!

Como Zoo Scavenger Hunt was an Awesome Day at the Zoo!

Thanks to all the au pairs and Cultural Care Local Childcare Coordinators for putting on a great event for the area au pairs.  Teams from all around the world competed for prizes and fun at the Como Zoo on July 18th.  We were also able to raise $240 for the Kids First program!

We look forward to another great event next summer!

Concert in the Park - August Au Pair Meeting

Concert in the Park!

We will meet at Parkers Lake Park in Plymouth at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday August 17th, so we can get a place to sit together and we will have our continuing education component prior to the concert.  The concert starts at 7 p.m.

Bring along a blanket or lawn chair to sit on, beverages (no alcohol is allowed in the park) and a picnic snack or whatever you may want.  The concert is free so will just have an enjoyable time together.

It will be a chance to say goodbye to our leaving au pairs - Emilia, Laura, Elvis, Pia and hello to our new arrivals - Natalia (Brazil), Samantha (S. Africa), and Rebecca (Germany).

The park is located at 15205 County Rd 6, Plymouth, MN 55447

Flugtag in Minnesota

Our family had the opportunity to enjoy a day along the Mississippi river in downtown St. Paul to watch the Flugtag festival!  “The Red Bull Flugtag challenges teams of everyday people to build homemade, human-powered flying machines and pilot them off a 30-foot high deck in hopes of achieving flight! Flugtag may mean “flying day” in German, but all these crafts ultimately splash into the waters below.”

We were privileged to see the world record breaking flight of one of the Flugtag crafts and enjoyed the day with one of my German Au Pairs!

Welcome to Minnesota Natalia!

Natalia arrived to Minnesota on July 16th from Brazil.  She will be caring for three kids in Otsego, MN!  Natalia is excited to be in Minnesota and has already expressed her appreciation for her wonderful host family.  Natalia enjoys karate, biking, museums, theater, hiking, BBQ and travel.  Be sure to welcome Natalia!

Scavenger Hunt at Como Park

Our July au pair meeting will be at Como Park Zoo on July 18th.  Beginning at 2 p.m. your team can pick up their clues and head into the zoo to find as many points as possible by 4 p.m.  Remember to wear your blue shirt!  Friends are welcome and this event is open to au pairs from other agencies as well!

Samantha arrived to Maple Grove, MN from South Africa in June.  She enjoys travel, swimming, theater, scrapbooking, camping, and hiking.  Samantha will be caring for three children - two of which are one year old twins.

Mini Golf!

Our June au pair meeting will be Mini Golfing

at Lilli Putt in Coon Rapids, MN

We will meet there at 5:45 on Thursday June 17th and begin golfing at 6.  Golf costs $6.00. They also have Bumper Boats and Go Karts for $5 per ride if you want to give that a try too.
